FOR MESSRS ROLLS ROYCE LTD.

3 - LR{Mr Ellor}7 Regulators, LT.0887, LT.0888, LT.0889 mounted on RF.50 Control Boxes.

These are insensitive regulators, i.e. by the choice of suitable spring and magnetic characteristics, and the use of a bucking winding connected across the field of the dynamo, the change of voltage setting due to contact wear has been rendered small, of the order of 0.1 - 0.25 Volt/thousandth.

A temperature swamping resistance of 38 ohms, in series with the 19 ohm regulator shunt winding, a field parallel resistance of 38 ohms and a points resistance of .63 ohms are all incorporated in the base, this latter value of points resistance being chosen to prevent "running away" of the dynamo below 6750 r.p.m.

The load compensation introduced is exactly the same as that on the thermostatic regulators described in Note 2979, and the connections to the base are also to be found there.

The open circuit voltage settings at 1500 r.p.m. with a C.45.FV two-pole dynamo (i.e. standard method of setting) are as follows:-

LT.0887. 16.0 Volts.
LT.0888. 16.0 "
LT.0889. 16.0 "
