TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to DJ. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL E2/M20.7.27. X8080 X8050 LIGHTENED PHANTOM WITH TURBULENT HEAD. Referring to your report BY1/H16727., the policy for the modifications to the Phantom now is:- To use the existing aluminium turbulent head in connection with two cast iron cylinder blocks having longer water jackets, and a lightened crankchamber 1" lower than existing standard, the existing arrangement of units and the existing position of carburetter being used. At the same time we are making some improvements to the valve gear to render it more silent, to reduce the weight of the moving parts, and to simplify it and reduce the cost of production. We should like to have detail drawings of the aluminium head above, and of the piston which is being used in conjunction with it on the blue sports chassis. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
