A very puzzling period of vibrations is passed through in each gear at about 8 to 10 M.P.H. and much experimental investigation is necessary before we can say anything definite about this. It apparently eminates from the gearbox and clutch, and leads one to think that the clutch jaggering when engaging is hand-in-hand with the cause of this period, as a similar effect is felt. After this short period, however, the engine is the softest I personally, have ever driven, in fact at the light cruising speeds around 30 M.P.H., the chassis at all, and at the highest speeds attainable, it is excellent. GEARBOX. It is difficult to be able to report on gearbox noise as the axle noise is too bad, but we think there is every prospect of gears being fairly silent. | ||
