Dear Sir,

In connection with the article which Mr. Montague Tombs has prepared concerning E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} R.{Sir Henry Royce} Hall's Tourist Trophy Bentley, I am writing to you direct in order to save time to check a point which has arisen.

It happens that a correspondent who was present at all the events in question, noticing other letters in "THE AUTOCAR" from readers on the subject of the Bentley's performances in the race, points out, as of course was the case, whereas that in 1934-1935 the Bentley had a 3 1/2-litre engine, in 1936 it was a 4 1/4-litre.

He is under the impression that the 1936 entry was a different car, although the older 3 1/2, he says, was used for the practising.

I imagine that our correspondent is probably under a misapprehension, it being mentioned in the article, I see, that Mr. Hall had an entirely new body built for the 1936 race,
(P.T.O.)
