Change gear lever failure, concluding it's a minor issue and requesting larger taper pins for a more secure fix.

re. CHANGE GEAR LEVER. XF320 7-EX.

Concerning the failure of the above, I have heard nothing, but conclude you are seeing -

(1) that the fault is only on a few cars,
(2) that these cars are put right at once,

because the force to shear the pins can so easily be applied to the lever by quite moderate pressure to control the reverse by even a moderately careful driver.

I would like Mr. Hives to bring rather larger taper pins, say 4, and a reamer, so we can make this thoroughly secure: it only has the original ones replaced.

Otherwise the car is going splendidly. The pistons (pedestal) appear extra good. She goes up to 75 occasionally. Vibrations all the way imperceptible, up and down steering quite good, roads rough and smooth.
