For the attention of Mr. Mason.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 24th ult. re your rotational accelerometer. We hope you realised from our first letter that the maximum order of accelerations we wish to measure is about 100,000 radius/sec^2. We are wondering whether this will break the instrument. Also we did not mention that the crankshaft vibrations are always accompanied by lateral vibrations of the nose of the crankshaft of the same frequency.

Will you let us know, therefore, whether you would be willing to demonstrate your instrument on one of our engines. If so, and you sent us a drawing of one end of the adaptor required between the engine and instrument, we will make an adaptor and should then be grateful if you would come over to Derby so that we can make sure the instrument does what we want.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
