STEERING.

I wish to confirm that the test which I have now imposed of 50 ft. lbs. on the steering gives a satisfactory factor of safety, and that any cars which passed this test can be delivered to the customer without fear.

The foregoing represents a 40% overload on maximum stress, which can be imposed upon the steering if turned from lock to lock on a hard gritty surface, and will fully cover our requirements.
