Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Col. 1158 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}1/GH.2.2.40. VISIT OF REPRESENTATIVE FROM Messrs. Clayton Dewandre Ltd. Visit was paid to these works on February 2nd. 1940, by Mr. Blomeley of Messrs. Clayton Dewandre Ltd. of Lincoln with the object of discussing various aspects of car heater designs. He was fetched from the station in 2.B.50, which it is fitted with the latest model Clayton heater, similar to that used by the S-S Company, and the excessive noise of this instrument was demonstrated. He was taken back to the station in 8.B.5, which is equiped with a Rolls-Royce Marston heater, and it was impressed upon him that even though the Marston was infinitely superior to the Clayton it was still not considered entirely satisfactory for use on Rolls-Royce motor cars. The following points were discussed:- 1. Mr. Blomeley was requested to obtain heat transfer and air flow figures on the Clayton Dewandre heat transmission plant for the following heaters:- (a) Rolls-Royce Marston. (b) Smith Hadees. (c) Buick. (d) A.C. These figures he very kindly promised to obtain for us, and requested some three to four weeks to complete the job. 2. The problem of obtaining the various positions of heat to the car, heat to the defroster and heat to both together was put up to him, and he informed us that Claytons had developed a heater with a rotating case to give the desired results. He promised to send us drawings of this instrument. - continued - | ||
