Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} K/KC/DPB/9.8.35. 765.A.PLUGS (RECONDITIONED). ------------------------ re Oiling up, misfiring etc. ------------------------ Further to your Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}8/HR.5.7.35, and your Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}2/HR.6.8.35, we are experiencing a considerable amount of trouble with plugs, both oiling up and misfiring. In your Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}2/HR.6.8.35, the final paragraph, you state:- "We have had occasion to return to you "a number of plugs which have been "suspected of being faulty and have been "quite O.K. on being cleaned and re-set". Whilst agreeing with you that this may be the case, these plugs are definitely not giving good service. I give below three typical instances of trouble caused by "R" plugs (reconditioned):- (1) Chassis No.B.185.DK. A new car sent in by LH.{Mr Haworth} (JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager}). There was nothing abnormal with the engine to cause the oiling up. The carburation was correct, oil pressure not abnormal, oiling of the overhead gear standard. The plugs that were causing the trouble were reconditioned, there were four out of six in this chassis. A change of plugs to new 765.A. KLG cured the trouble. JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} is in possession of these plugs and I am given to understand is taking the matter up with you direct. (2) B.34.EF also a new car. Misfiring was taking place - again no reason for the misfiring. Change of plugs cured the trouble. The plugs removed from this chassis are being returned to you under cover of our series note No.4201. You will notice that four out of six are stamped "R" on the hexagon of the plug body. -contd- | ||
