(3) B.40.EF, also a new car. Came into K for oiling up trouble. No reason for the oiling up with the exception of the plugs. A change of these plugs cured the trouble as far as oiling up was concerned. A set of "R" plugs were fitted in this particular case. Ten days after we were requested to proceed to the owner's address to rectify misfiring. The "R" plugs were removed, new KLG plugs type 765.A. were fitted and the misfiring disappeared.
These plugs are being sent to you under cover of our advice note No.4202 for your examination.

I am of the opinion that it is not advisable to fit the "R" or reconditioned type plug to a comparatively new type chassis. Two of these cases are cars which are in the region of the 200 mile mark. B.85.DK for example, the speedo reading is 143. In the case of 40.EF. This car came in for oiling up trouble at 1221 miles on the 29th July. The "R" plugs fitted then lasted until yesterday the 8th inst, the mileage was 2277.

Some months ago when this trouble threatened to become acute, or rather when Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst was at K discussing the matter of plugs with Munday of the KLG people and myself, Munday mentioned to me that he thought the 765.D plug would give better service, owing to the increased clearance in the annular space around the centre electrode. What has happened to this plug?

Perhaps you would like to go a little further into this matter of plugs and plug trouble, as it seems a great pity to me that a new owner should experience this trouble so soon after taking delivery of his car.

K/KC.
