| x258 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.1/KW, 13.2.35. Bentley Lightened Radiator. We wish to lighten the Bentley radiator as much as possible, and therefore wish you to build up a radiator incorporating the following :- (1) Top tank as shown on pencilled blue print Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1770 attached. (2) Steam chamber as shown on pencilled blue print Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1771 attached (can be machined from standard chamber EB.284). (3) Bottom tank lightened as shown on Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1769 attached. If it is not practicable to cast this it can be machined from tank to EB.1797. (4) Matrix to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1570. The top tank will require an outrigger shutter bearing support. This should be in dural, while an EX scheme has been done for the necessary fittings for the shortened Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1570 matrix. Will you please also construct a Bentley radiator shutter (EB.1056) in staybrite steel .020" thick (25 SWG.) - if it is not possible to use the Bentley method of construction, the 20/25 and 40/50 method should be used. We wish to compare this with a standard shutter for weight and rigidity. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/C.S.Steadman. | ||
