V1031 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RmL/LG. 9th. Feb. 1927. P.J.Corr Esq. 30, Benvarden Avenue, Waterside, Londonderry. Dear Sir, We thank you for your letter of the 2nd.inst. With reference to the initial salary we have offered you being inadequate, possibly you do not realise that there is very little chance of your being the slightest use to us as a commercial firm for six months. We do not doubt your knowledge, but you have never previously been with an automobile firm and therefore cannot visualize the wide gulf between theory and practice. The wages you are likely to get after your probationary period depends entirely on yourself; in a progressive firm, the progress of the individual is governed by his personal ability and not by precedent. Therefore, while we regret your decision if you xxx still adhere to it, we feel that we cannot add to our original offer. Yours faithfully, | ||
