Description: R.R.Sch.1082 OPEN TYPE FUSES. Purpose: To overcome failures in customers hands. Brief Report and Remarks: Running 15,000 miles on 26.G.VI. 21 Failures in last five months of the cartridge types. At present being introduced on 1st in D Phantom - 131 in L Bentley. This fuse has been subjected to bench tests and maximum load test on the road by Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} and pronounced better than the present standard, little endurance road running has been carried out so far but in view of failures in customers hands we recommend an immediate change over. Open type fuse has now been introduced at 1st. Phantom III chassis in 'D' series, also 131st. Bentley in 'L' series, and reduces factory cost of chassis by 3/1d. New tools have cost £54.0.0d. and existing parts value £128.0.0d. are rendered scrap (includes 4,000 fuses costing £76.10.0d) Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} states that none of the above scrap can be absorbed by Repair Dept.
