I have recently been trying the latest Philco 803.T.model having long and medium waves, on which only two condensers are fitted one on the distributor and one to the coil, I understand, and no suppressors on the plugs or any other part of the chassis. No other steps have been taken in any way to damp out interference of any sort. The working of this set is a tremendous improvement over the one I had previously on 9-RY, which was the large size Philco No.12, in fact the only kind of interference I get on this latest set is due to what I believe is termed static current in the hubs of the wheels. This at times is very pronounced. In any case this interference ceases immediately, and always, when the foot brakes are applied. This condition is not unknown to the Philco Company, but I have not yet asked them what steps they can take to eliminate it. I thought you might be interested to hear of this development. There is one other peculiarity about the set I am using on 56-UK, and that is on battery ignition only a great deal of noise emanates from the plugs, but as I never use the car on battery ignition only this does not really matter. I would be glad to know if you have any experience of this Philco set, and whether your results in any way coincide with mine. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Lumb | ||
