X5880 Extract from GWH {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} /2/RP.23.4.26. Report on Chassis 10-GIII after 7526 Miles. Battery ignition. X.4357. X.3485. X.5680. X.2894. Improved ventilation to distributor, window in head and holes in base. EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/T15.1.26. Tungsten contacts. The distributor head has remained clean and free from oil. The bottom half of condenser in pocket was covered with oil. The tungsten point, we had reported had developed a pip on the finger contact, has now increased in size and the corresponding hole in contact screw is too large for a good contact to be certain The remaining surface is pitted. We have fitted a spare set of contacts and those taken off have been sent to Mr. Clark. The engine at slow speeds had begun to misfire, one of the causes being the contact points We have had no trouble with the coil, but should like to point out that dust finds its way in through the wire conduits. The top of the coil was covered with dust when cap was removed. | ||
