Report on Chassis -10.GIII after 10,027 miles. X.8940a

Battery ignition. X.4357, X.4652, X.5680.

Improved ventilation to distributor - window in head and hole in base EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/T15.1.26. Tungsten contact point fitted. The battery ignition has not been quite satisfactory. It was necessary at 7,500 miles to replace the contact points as they had become pitted and were not making good contact.

These were taken off and sent to Derby. New standard contacts were fitted. These are in a good condition after 2500 miles. The distributor head has remained clean and free from oil. We reported that dust finds its way in through the wire conduits to the top of the coil.
