| To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X4094 323 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KW. 24.9.34. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Exhaust System. When we put up the power of the Phantom from 160 to 180 B.H.P. the losses in the exhaust system went up considerably. In view of this we developed a larger silencer which gave a loss of about 23 HP. in the maximum output when coupled to the rest of the system. The present standard silencer gave a loss of 37 HP. in the same condition. As we are going to get 190 to 200 HP. out of the SpectreCodename for Phantom III, we are going to have difficulty in getting a sufficiently free exhaust system, but we are working on this now and hope shortly to give you an analysis of the power losses. Our figures so far indicate that apart from the silencer the manifolds also appear to be poor for power. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
