NEW DESIGN AT REAR END OF FRAME ACCOMODATING SPARE WHEEL AND NEW LUGGAGE GRID. ------------------------ The above scheme is going round for standardization signatures. There is, however, a doubt as to exactly what is being standardized. At present we have a straight extension to the frame into which a dumb iron is rivetted for carrying the luggage grid. This fixture is fitted to all chassis whether luggage grids are ordered or not. Is it proposed that when the new scheme is standardized we shall fit every chassis with the curved extensions to the frame and the cross tube whether luggage grids or spare wheel carriers are ordered or not. It is most important that this point should be clearly understood and a definite decision arrived at in regard to same. If it is decided that the extensions are not to be fitted, then does it mean that the standard chassis will be the straight extension with the dumb iron preparation for the old type luggage grid, as at present. It is quite evident that one or other type of preparation for carrying a luggage grid will have to be fitted. We were driven to this originally, and this position cannot be abandoned. The issue is, which type is going to be fitted as standard on all cars. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
