c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} (K) BY/NS.{Norman Scott}11/G.9.2.38. c. RHE/BG. BENTLEY. REAR BRAKES. SECTION 6130. In service trouble is experienced because the floating fulcrum bush becomes tight in the brake shoes. It is thought that the aluminium closes down on to the bush. To obviate this, will you please alter the drawing to increase the heat treatment to 16 hours. The pin for the spring G.100322, the auxiliary strap fulcrum pin G.100792 and the pin G.100328 should be cadmium plated all over to prevent rusting. The diameters before plating should be adjusted to suit. These modifications are required in addition to the deletion of the drain holes in the brake drum side plate, to prevent the entry of water.
