To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X 7280 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}10/KW.1.3.34. Re. Ph.II Starting Carburetter Control. We have now fitted up on 22-EX a scheme to LEC.3775 for preventing the starting carburetter lever from moving into the "RICH" position. This scheme consists of a locking device in the "RUNNING" position by means of two V.{VIENNA} notches in the lever engaging with two diametrically opposed slots in the hub and held in position by a spring. The operation is a little stiffer than our present controls, but not unduly so, and we recommend the fitting of this scheme to all P.II cars as soon as possible. We are issuing the necessary Standardisation sheets. This scheme does not cancel our recent modification to controls, to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1290. Both schemes should be used.
