Rolls-Royce Limited,
Derby, England.

Att: Mr. F.{Mr Friese} D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Smith.

Gentlemen:

We are in receipt of your letter of November 21, 1934, and we wish to take this opportunity to apologize for not having furnished you the information requested in your letter. Your letter was mislaid and only recently was it discovered that same had not been answered. Please accept our apologies for same.

We are enclosing herewith, our drawing P-2153-C covering a 2-1/2" center gear set having an overall ratio of 2 to 1. The size of this unit in the Cone type will have ample capacity for the horsepowers which you expect to secure and we have selected ratios which will give us efficient gear sets and at the same time facilitate the manufacture of the gears.

It would be our idea to have the worm of the 6-2/5 to 1 ratio job, as the primary driver. This worm would be running at engine speed. The 3-1/5 to 1 ratio job would be used as a secondary unit and the worm wheel in this case would be the driver.

In the absence of any detailed information concerning your engine layout, we are merely submitting the design of the worm and worm wheel. The construction of same, outside of the threads and teeth, can be to suit your requirements.

After you have looked over the design and if you are still interested, we will be glad to furnish you a few sets for trial purposes at a nominal price and will also be pleased to quote you in quantities, in connection with your requirements.

Yours very truly,
MICHIGAN TOOL CO.
J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} C. Drader,
Chief Engineer.
