EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 83497. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/An.1/AJ. 20.11.30. THERMOSTATICALLY OPERATED SHUTTERS. Cars now being built in the works will be fitted with thermostatically operated shutters. We have instructions from R.{Sir Henry Royce} to arrange for the thermostats to maintain the top water temperature at 60° C. under average running conditions. Unfortunately R's 40/50 car at W.W. has not thermostatically operated shutters so that he cannot fully appreciate the effect of his suggestion. We should like your opinion as to whether you think this will be satisfactory on the average car passing through your hands. In cold weather it is quite possible to produce the suggested temperature by running with the bonnet and radiator shutters fully open. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/An. | ||
