"STORK" - PNEUMATIC BRAKES. X3874

We send you herewith N.schs 1329 & 1328. N.sch.1328 shews the arrangement of the pressure indicator cylinder connected to the foot pedal. This drawing is not complete in every detail, but as it was very much desired to get these drawings off by the weekend we are sending it on, and think there is enough on it to enable you to complete the details. The material is mostly bronze, and if aluminium bronze is a good wearing material we suggest that the majority of the pieces should be made in that. It will be noticed that we have modified the forging for the gearbox support bracket on the off side.

We think the brazed up tubular bracket gets very near to the petrol cock, but as the "Stork" will almost certainly be fitted with a vacuum system, neither the petrol cock nor the air pressure cock are likely to be required.

With reference to N.sch . 1329 there are several points that are not completely finished but we think you will be able to make your details as the bulk of these points are fairly obvious. As shewn, this gear is intended to be fitted to a long chassis, and if fitted to a short chassis will occupy the same position with reference to the third cross member.

We have not worked out the piston rings on either N.schemes 1328 or 1329. We hope that Derby will do this.

The run of the pipes has not been finally settled and it will be noticed that it does not completely agree in these 2 schemes. We shall send you further information later.
