With reference to R3/M22.3.27., we send herewith N.sch.2387 and 2390 which we have sent to R.{Sir Henry Royce} and RG.{Mr Rowledge}

N.sch.2387 shews two alternative proposals for a more irreversible worm (because it is difficult to tell just how much irreversibility will be required) and also the longer nut which R.{Sir Henry Royce} has asked for.

N.sch.2390 shews the modifications to the dampered pendulum lever to give the increased movement and lowerrating which we now provide on the side steering tube.

It will be noticed that we are counting on these experiments being fitted to Phantoms instead of to EAC.7. though they can be adapted to the latter perfectly easily if required. We have considered that if these steering experiments were carried out on Phantom they would probably get through much quicker. There would be a greater choice of cars on which they could be tried, and we should be comparing the new steerings with one; the characteristics of which are well known. If the Expl: Dept: do not agree with this would they please let us know, and we will indicate what should be done to apply the experiments to EAC.7.

We think there would be no objection to these drawings being detailed if you desire to do so.
