X. 2907 - FURTHER EXPERIMENTS ON FLOW OF LIQUIDS THROUGH NOZZLES.

Liquid ----- Petrol.

Nozzles as specification.

Nozzles horizontal.

Heads of liquid over nozzles:-

I. 17.81"
II. 12.81"
III. 7.81"

Discharges in c.c. per minute.

Nozzles radiused at one end to a radius equal to bore diameter, and sharp edged at other end.

"R.in" signifies rounded entrance to nozzle.
"R.out" signifies sharp-edged entrance to nozzle.

(a) Table of discharges given.

(b) Tables of coefficients of discharge for all the nozzles for each of the three heads also given. These coefficients are ratios of actual quantity discharged to ideal quantity reckoned on ideal velocity due to head and cross sectional area of nozzle.

(c) Table of average coefficient of discharge for the three heads also given.
