To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. to BJ. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X. 2907L - FLOW OF LIQUIDS THROUGH NOZZLES. Herewith please receive some further experimental results on the flow of petrol through various nozzles. The nozzles are according to the specification on page 2, and other details are as on page 1. Page 3 gives the actual observed discharges of the nozzles in c.c. per minute Pages 4, 5, and 6 give the coefficients of discharge of the nozzles for the three heads respectively, under which the discharges were measured, and page 7 gives the average coefficients of discharge for the three heads. These results are not given as being accurate, because the nozzles as received suffered from certain imperfections, having been drilled and not reamed, but they will show very well the general nature of the variation of discharge with length, diameter, length bore ratio, and whether the entrance to the nozzles is sharp-edged or rounded.
