Dear Sirs, I expressed the opinion when I saw you that I was a little doubtful whether an examination of the deposit would throw any direct light on the sludge formation in the gear box. I was inclined to the opinion that a temperature above 110°C must have been experienced, but you felt that was very unlikely.
