EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. √3579 REF HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG13.11.25. To EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} PN.{Mr Northey} c. to CWB. RE. AUTOVAC. X8510 X3579 We should welcome a report on the experimental elbows which we have supplied you with, with the object of reducing the effect of the autovac which causes misfiring when the engine is running light load. Experimental tests show that these elbows cause a distinct improvement. We should say they reduce the fault by at least 50% but we do not claim that they overcome the fault entirely. With our experience we have not found that these fittings reduce the efficiency of thr autovac to any extent, or the reliability. We have written to the makers of the Autovac and they see no reason why they should not be fitted. This new elbow is the only thing we know of which will reduce the misfiring caused by the autovac. We should like a report from the Repair Dept., Test Dept., and Sales who have all been supplied with samples of these fittings, stating whether they consider the improvement when these elbows are fitted, is sufficient to justify standardisation. In the meantime, one of these new elbows is being tested on the Phantom car running 10,000 miles in France. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
