IGNITION RELAY SWITCH. During my visit to the R.A.E. on Monday last Dr. Bairsto demonstrated some tests which they had been carrying out on our relay switch to determine the amount of radio interference caused by the same. It was evident that due to our arrangement of the contacts on top of the windings with no intercenting electro static metal screen a large amount of interference was being capacitively conveyed to the battery. We did not expect this as our contacts are some distance from the windings and it is important therefore that we avoid all capacity couplings by isolating the battery contacts and their connections. We have examined the possibilities of so altering the design of our existing switch and we attach a sketch shewing a suggested rearranged layout for the contacts.
