Rear Axle.

In reply to my cable regarding advice from Gleason's on hypoid axle, Springfield cables :-

"GRAY OF GLEASONS ON AQUITANIA SAILED TODAY MAY SEVENTH WILL CALL DERBY"

I imagine we can expect him here about May 18th, as Mr. Ross will have told them the urgency of the matter.

Just as a suggestion, though I do not know what Gleason's practice is on hypoid gears I know that on our bevels they use slightly dissimilar metals, 5% nickel on pinion, 3 1/2% nickel on gear.

Curtiss on their herringbone reduction gears also use dissimilar metals, Nitralloy on gear and 3 1/2% nickel on pinion.
