X3117 To CWB. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG19.2.29 LIFTING JACKS. X3117 X3175 Replying to CWB1/GD14.2.29. We quite agree to the advantages you point out with the Rapson jack of the original type. We had several cars fitted up with brackets suitable for taking this jack. Shortly afterwards Rapsons seemed to go out of the business. We think however it would be difficult to make a jack to suit our present car with a ratchet. With the underslung springs on the 'SS{S. Smith}', we want a short jack both at the rear and the front. When we were trying Rapson jacks before, we required a fairly high jack at the back and the brackets on the front axle were mounted high up half way between the spring and the pivot. By this means the height could be obtained with a single lift, especially as at that time we were using high pressure tyres. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
