At the moment we have no cure for the trouble; on the other hand we are surprised that an owner should comment so strongly on it if the clutch is as good as our average Bentley standard. We think that Works should at least have an opportunity of saying whether the car is up to the best we can do with our present knowledge of the problem. There is no doubt that if the clutch is at all fierce the fault can be greatly exaggerated, and we know from our experience on Rolls-Royce cars that a certain amount of variation occurs in service. In the meantime we are making every endeavour to find a solution but the problem is a difficult one and customers should therefore not be encouraged to think that the trouble can be easily rectified.
