To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x761 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/KW.9.10.35. Chassis 80-MS. Mr. Thomas. This owner brought his car to the Works yesterday. We dismantled the brakes whilst he was here. Both fronts and one rear were covered with oil. The latter was due to the rear axle having been over-filled; the fronts were due to an oil leak at the bottom of the pivots. A fact that contributes to the state of these brakes is that the owner, who looks after his car very well, takes the Instruction Book literally and habitually over-lubricates the car. The trouble arises because he presses the Bijur pump twice every morning before he takes the car out, and then very often does a run of only a few miles. I think that, now we have explained the situation to Mr. Thomas, he will not have further trouble. I understand he is ordering a Ph.III through Jack Barclay.
