I got back before lunch on Monday as was instructed. I have seen Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, and he has put me to assist Dodd with the vapour lock trouble on 36-EX, also to investigate the cause of clutch jagger on Phantom III's. 32-EX, as you know, completed 9,947 miles, not counting the error in the log book made by Dodd before we received the car. This brings the total mileage well over the 10,000. I have actually only done 4,250 miles on this car, having been on the Bentley during the first part of its mileage. In view of this, do you think I am justified in writing a 10,000 miles report on 32-EX, or should we wait and see if, when it has been repaired, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will send it back to France, for in this case I will be able to write a full report on the complete mileage as was done on B-56-BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} I am quite prepared to write a report on what I have experienced, but do not feel I could give an authentic report on what happened before that mileage. Presumably the accident to 32-EX will disarrange our holidays, as we suggested. As a special concession, might I be allowed to take my holiday from Monday July 13th onwards, so that this will give me a chance of seeing something of my brother before he goes back to India on the 21st.
