X.1109. VARNISHED AND WAXED INSULATING PAPERS FOR IGNITION COILS AND CONDENSERS.

In answer to your Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/GEA15/EB2.9.29, the position is that we have several of these two types of ignition coil different from standard, not only in the use of paraffin waxed paper insulation but also in electrical details.

These coils will be taken through the normal routine of 10,000 mile testing etc. and if generally approved, the standardisation of the paraffin waxed paper as part of the construction of these coils will thus take place. In the meanwhile the results we have obtained with paraffin waxed paper on the present standard type of coil have not been sufficiently encouraging to warrant standardisation.
