X3825 To EY. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to RG.{Mr Rowledge} c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E3/M12.11.25. EAGLE 16. MAGNETOS. X.430. ----------------------- In reply to your memo. EY16/H91125., we have only made provision for retarding the rear pair of magnetos because we are counting on being supplied with double spark Watford machines for Eagle 16 in the future (for which we have specified fixed ignition to simplify the magnet.). Provision has been made for driving for single magnetos, but these latter will be supplied with variable ignition. We have only gone to the trouble of fitting 4 single magnetos so that there will be no delay in testing the engine, and as a policy of safety it should it be found impracticable to produce the double spark machine. We hope very much that the engine will never be produced with 4 magnetos. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Faint text at bottom: 1904 MADE AT CROXLEY] | ||
