1.625" to 1.650", and to increase the size of the tube F.6988 from 1.625" to 1.650" to suit, and also to machine the outside of the boss on F.6986. It was agreed that this alteration should be proceeded with.

Front Spring Bracket. F.3677/R.{Sir Henry Royce}

It has been ascertained by the Drawing Office that sometime ago the direction of the bolt hole which passes through the bracket and the flanges of the frame, has been altered from the pre-war practise of normal to the top of the frame to normal to the centre line of the bracket, which would necessitate a wedge shaped washer under both the head of the bolt and the nut. The works however have not actually worked to this drawing and are continuing with the pre-war practise. The D.O. therefore now propose to alter the drawings back to pre-war practise in line with present and past shop practise. It was agreed that this alteration should be proceeded with.

Valve Tappet Lever. F.13714

It was reported by the works that considerable difficulty was being experienced in producing these pieces, owing to the distortion of the holes for the roller pin, which had been found to be of such magnitude that the depth of casing allowable did not allow the holes to be cleaned up in grinding. The works desire to omit the machining of the bottom of the channel recess inside the stamping, as it had been found that this operation caused the greater part of the distortion, owing it is believed to the release of forging stresses.
The matter was discussed at length, but it was not felt desirable to allow this alteration without further efforts and experiments in methods of producing the part. Mr. Swift agreed to make further efforts, retaining the original design, but asked to be allowed to produce six sets in which the machining operation above referred to is omitted.
This was agreed to, but the parts will not be fitted to the engine without further discussion.

Governor Case. F.5223

The Drawing Office desire to make deeper the recess for the ball bearing in order to provide a float for the ball bearing. This is to correct a D.O. error. It was agreed that this alteration should be proceeded with.

Re Condor Alterations

The proposal to deal with alterations to the "Condor" in a similar manner to "Chassis" alterations at these progress meetings was discussed and agreed to. It was thought this procedure was necessary in order to avoid any possibility of
