Fitting S/M gearbox to PII Trials Car.

I was very glad to hear from you on the telephone that if we can name a chassis from which you could take the gearbox and use it in our Trials Car (85-JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary}) you could convert this car quickly for us to the latest type for demonstration purposes.

We therefore suggest that you can take the gearbox from either 98-MS, 104-MS or 112-MS, whichever will enable you to do the job most quickly.

Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has authorised this conversion, and I am therefore sending 85-JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} to you first thing on Monday, and we should like to have it back, if possible, by the end of next week.

We have many people waiting to try this gearbox on the 40/50, and we hope to get some orders as soon as we are able to demonstrate it.

At the same time the performance of 85-JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} is not particularly good. It does not seem fast enough and people complain of its lack of 'pep' and acceleration. If therefore you could do anything to improve it without making it non-stand we shouldbe very glad for you to do so.

Ox.
