400c. From Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} for Log Book. 11.B.V. This is a very much improved car. In the soft position, the rear damping does not seem adequate. The amount of leak on the front dampers could, with advantage, be increased slightly. We should like this to be tried out. The rear axle dances violently on severe brake application. Possibly this is due to some sort of torque control which may have been fitted to keep the propeller shaft quiet. The whole front end of the car is much steadier, and gives a better one-piece feel. Considering the solid engine mounting, the engine is remarkably free from periods. If when rubber is put back, the radiator shakes we should like diagonal stays to be tried. One of the next problems to be tackled on this car is to get a reasonable exhaust system that is quiet. Starting up is good, but the mixture goes weaker before the engine has warmed up. Clutch satisfactory. Not enough front braking. The rev. counter should be coupled up. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
