Hooe. To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whym. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whym.1/BA.17.7.39. Bentley 11.B.V. C.I. 80 Engine. We want to try a freer exhaust system on the above car to reduce the B.H.P. loss, and for experimental purposes we require the following systems, making and fitting:- (1) Fit Twin Exhaust System similar to the one fitted on Bentley "Corniche". Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whym. will supply the silencers. (2) Fit up a system similar in design to the standard B.V. system, but using 2.250" dia piping throughout, except the tail pipe, which should be 2.00" dia. The number of 5/16" holes in the top hats should be increased to 55. The whole of this system can be made in mild steel. We shall require 8 - 2.250" flanges. (3) As (2), but using 2.500" dia piping throughout, except the tail pipe which should be 2.250" dia. The number of 5/16" holes in the top hats should be increased to 55. This system will require 8-2.500 dia. flanges and 2 - 2.250" flanges. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whym. | ||
