CHASSIS - 9 PK.

ENGINE.

Crankcase & Bearings.

General condition of crankcase very good, all studs, bolts etc, were secure.
General condition of main bearings very good, with the exception of intermediate bearings 2 and 5 which appear to have been assembled too tight causing the whitemetal to spread.

Pins in crankcase arm for bell-crank suspension slack in crankcase, this is not wholly a question of wear but somewhat faulty fitting as we find that these holes are reamed by the Fitters with an expanding reamer without a pilot, consequently one half of the hole is reamed too large in the first place which gives the pin too much clearance and allows it to hammer and wear.

Bell-crank.

The limit on these holes could with advantage be tightened up.

Crankshaft.

General condition very good, taper on spring drive has picked up slightly due to spring drive not having been properly tightened up.
Wear on journals No 4 and 7 is .001 to .0015.
Crank pins almost made up with caked oil deposit.

Tappets.

General condition very good, rollers and pins show slight sign of wear.
Tappets, springs and guides O.K. Adjusting screws required facing.

Connecting Rods.

Condition of these very good, oil pipes O.K. small end bushes well up to size, big ends required taking up .0015 slack.

Camshaft.

General condition very good, front end bearing requires replacing owing to oil trough being broken.

Gudgeon Pins.

Wear on pins .0005. Locking screws O.K.
