EAC. ENGINE.

GENERAL.

This seems very nearly satisfactory, being power-ful at all speeds, smooth at all speeds (very free from torque or over-run vibrations) and silent at all speeds.

The clutch seems good, but the exhaust is not so good as 40/50., because we miss the capacity of the exhaust boxes on the engine, and especially of the front silencer. The latter we propose to endeavour to fit again, and a cutout at the rear of main silencer.

SLOW RUNNING. NO LOAD.

This is not quite so regular as the standard. I feared it would not be so, and perhaps it will never be quite so good. To investigate this we propose trying the 40/50 1/2. carburetter exactly as on that engine, and also a variety of induction pipes, but I fear it is within the cylinder, i,e, we miss the valve pocket. We shall still be better than Daimler, or Hispano.

x8680 Later the new head with cross ignition may be better, and also the use of the sleeve magneto, and our relay auto advance. The spark for dead slow speed should occur at T.D.C., therefore always retard for dead slow work. Also some ignition plugs may be found to give superior results. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} continues to experiment.
