W/S. To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c.c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Sy. Sft.{Mr Swift} Ck.{Mr Clark} Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} LV. re Floorboards in Sheet Metal. Since we first designed and instructed Bentley floorboards in pressed sheet metal we should by now have had considerable running experience with these, and we are looking forward to early standardisation of this feature. We should be glad if Sft.{Mr Swift} would give us some idea of the cost of the dies for producing these, so that we can see what sort of quantities will be required roughly to economically carry the tool charge. We rather want this information in considering the application of sheet metal floorboards to our other chassis. So far as we can see at the moment the tool cost would make it out of the question in connection with P.2., having regard to the small further number of this chassis which we shall expect to make, and this leaves us the problem of weighing up whether on the 20/25 chassis by the time we should reach the point of standardisation, whether sheet metal floorboards would be worth while.
