X.4338 - GOSHAWK ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

We have had an answer (copy attached) to our notes EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T14.8.23 and EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T17.8.23 addressed to R. {Sir Henry Royce} and you will see that we have now arrived at the following wording to be placed on the battery and the dynamo:-

WARNING.

IF BATTERY DISCONNECTED DETACH CENTRAL (EXCITING) WIRE FROM DYNAMO. OTHERWISE USE OF CHARGING SWITCH MAY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE.

This appears finally to settle the matter; therefore we should be glad if you would go ahead with the production of these plates.

The only point that appears to us is that the word "BE" might have been retained between "BATTERY" and "DISCONNECTED". If you are o-f the like opinion we might perhaps insert this.

Also some provision should be made for anchoring the exciting wire when it is removed from the dynamo. Electrically, it can be metallically anchored to the dynamo carcase without damage.

Would NHW. kindly arrange for a suitable note for the Instruction Book in this connection.
