Further to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}24.11.38. NO.30 BED. B.80 NO.1 UNIT. Following inspection of bearings and casing of big end, re-check (1) (a) Open exhaust power (existing timing). (b) Make timing ½ tooth later and re-check (a) From above it should indicate whether necessary to further vary timing. Induction pipe depression should be taken during the above tests. (2) Oil cooler to be fitted as soon as possible. (3) Valve bounce speed with silencer fitted (4) Check non detonating, also max. power ignition curve with Redline. Also give actual governor characteristics. (5) As soon as parts are ready which should be followed up (Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}10.1.39) fit torsional oscillation indicator drive shaft and try with and without damper over full throttle speed range. Further tests dependent upon results obtained. (6) Check Mechanical Effy of this unit. (7) Development of induction system and carburetter. | ||
