X.4333 LE CARBONE, COVENTRY HOUSE, SOUTH PLACE, E.C.2. 23.5.22. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby. Dear Sirs, Your ref. Roy{Sir Henry Royce}2/W22522. Our ref. 898/P.1696. 1308/P.2676. We are this morning in receipt of your favour dated 15th May. which date however we presume is a typographical error. We note your remarks concerning the brushes in question, but we are a little in the dark as we cannot trace that we have supplied with what might be called modified brushes against your order 8645. On the 4th inst. you wrote us about the brushes delivered complaining that the pigtail had parted from the brushes, and in reply thereto we wrote you on the following day that we were taking up the matter with our Works people. They have made up and sent six sample brushes of this pattern to which they have secured the flexible by means of their riveted connection, and we have much pleasure in enclosing herewith these brushes for your inspection. We have no doubt that you will find the trouble of loose flexibles is overcome. The next point is the insulation of the pigtail. We gather that you are not satisfied with the cotton sleeve insulation of the pigtail, and would prefer to have it done by means of glass beads, but as regards the spiral fibre we are very sorry that so far we are unable to supply this method on account of the existing Patent rights. Unfortunately the samples which we are submitting today are also supplied with cotton sleeve insulation but we shall be happy to take up the question of the supplying of glass beads in future with our people when we receive your reply to the present. In this connection we beg to refer you to our separate letter of today being written about your esteemed order No.9092. We shall be very pleased to hear further from you in the matter, and are, Yours faithfully, R/W. | ||
