Wear on shafts due to glands.

ASBESTOS ROPE GLANDS IMPREGNATED WITH GRAPHITE.

After 30 hrs. running there was no wear on the shaft due to the glands. There was .00075" wear due to the centre bearing.

PLAIN ASBESTOS ROPE GLANDS.

After 30 hrs. - same as graphite impregnated glands.

After 60 hrs. Wear on shaft due to glands .00025". Wear on shaft due to centre bearing .001".

After 90 hrs. Wear on shaft due to glands .00025" - .0005". Wear on shaft due to centre bearing .001" - .00125".

Back pressure 11 lbs/sq.in.
Spring " 30 lbs.
Shaft revs. 3050/min.
