Phantom Steering. CJ4/E25/9/25

With reference to the attached memo. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M23/9/25, addressed to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, it is suggested that customers should be instructed not to use a tyre which is badly out of truth.

Are we testing all tyres and spares which we supply with our cars to see that they are not out of truth?

I hope it may not be necessary to issue this warning to customers, although I fear we shall have to do it, because it will leave the impression that the RR has so delicate a constitution, that it is necessary to make all this fuss about what must appear to customers to be insignificant points.

Paragraph 10, I think should be submitted to the Sales Conference in order that they may express an opinion upon it and, if they agree to its issue to the various sales organisations, it should be issued together with 1, 2, 3 and 4.

As regards paragraph 7, obviously the cut down pivots and axles could not be issued to the public until they had gone through a 10,000 miles trial and probably the alterations set out in paragraphs 5 and 6 should also be submitted to a 10,000 miles trial.
