CHASSIS. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I. Mr.Royce is emphatic that we should be in a position to adopt the intermediate proposal of thread on the steering shaft and nut, namely .940 lead on the present pitch diameters, immediately sufficient has been done to justify/its standardization. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will be fitting a worm and nut of this type to the car which will be going to France, and therefore it is of the utmost urgency that we should have the necessary tools to produce a new worm and nut immediately the parts are standardized. CJ. has agreed to the parts being made, but we cannot fit same until a Standardization Sheet has been signed. The Works, in the meantime, are going slow on the old parts. So long as the Works have not cut the thread in the nut or on the worm, the new pieces can be made from the old parts. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
