Henderson - Showroom} 29th August 1935 Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. WST Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. West We refer to our telephone conversation of today and would advise that we are in a position to supply Carp Brand Cambric Tufnol Sheet material 1/2" thick stripped up to 26" or 36" in length approximately. At the moment a small stock of this material is available and we could despatch up to approximately 4 square feet in strip form 1/2" thick ex stock. Larger quantities could be supplied in 1/2 working days from receipt of instructions. We also understand you are interested in Asp Brand Asbestos Tufnol which is produced in sheet, tube and rod form and can be used where normal temperature conditions of approximately 180°C prevail. This material can of course be used under higher temperatures up to 200°C for short periods but after prolonged heating at this temperature or higher the material fails by blistering. Ordinary Tufnol either sheet, tube or rod will withstand normal temperatures up to 212°Fah or 300° for short periods. Over these figures the material fails by blistering. For your future reference we are enclosing herewith a schedule showing technical data and explanatory notes regarding the various brands of Tufnol now being produced together with a copy of leaflet headed Plastics as Engineering materials. In this leaflet Tufnol is referred to as Grade 1 paper base impregnated, canvas fabric base and fine cloth fabric base. We hope these details will be found of interest and use and shall be pleased to give any further assistance that may be required in designing Tufnol to fulfil your requirements. We remain, Yours faithfully, For ELLISON INSULATIONS LTD., [Signature] | ||
